
In a proactive initiative to promote student health and well-being, Smart Indian School Cambridge organized an Anti-Vaping Awareness Session on 5th May 2025 for students of Grades 5 to 9 at the SIS Auditorium.
The session was led by Dr. Syed Mahmood, Senior Consultant at Farwaniya Hospital and a well-regarded public health advocate. He urged students to resist peer pressure, media influence, and other social factors that may lead to experimentation. His presentation highlighted the specific dangers smoking and vaping pose to children and adolescents, detailing the harmful ingredients in these products and their lasting health consequences. Additionally, he addressed common myths and misconceptions about tobacco and vaping, equipping students with accurate information to make informed decisions.
A standout feature of the event was the interactive Q&A segment, where students posed thoughtful questions to Dr. Mahmood. His responses, supported by real-life examples, encouraged meaningful dialogue and helped students connect more personally with the topic.
The session was attended by key school leaders including Mr. Binoy Mathew, Principal; Ms. Bhavitha Bright, Vice-Principal; and Ms. Amira G Bendary, Administrative Manager. Ms. Anju Jacob, the School Counselor, coordinated the event. The welcome address, delivered by Sonith of Grade 8 Aries, set a reflective and engaging tone for the session.
