Kala Kuwait Literature Festival Concludes, Offering a Memorable Experience for Malayalam Literature Enthusiasts

The inaugural edition of the Kala Kuwait Literature Festival (KKLF), organized by the Kerala Art Lovers Association, concluded with a grand finale after two vibrant days of literary celebration. Held at Aspire Indian School, Abbasiya, the festival offered a unique platform for Malayalam literature lovers in Kuwait.

The festival was officially inaugurated by acclaimed writer Ashokan Charuvil. Distinguished guests included celebrated authors Benyamin, Haritha Savithri, Priya Vijayan Sivadass, and Kairali TV Executive Editor Sharath Chandran. The opening ceremony, chaired by Kala Kuwait President Mathew Joseph, commenced with a welcome address by General Secretary T.V. Hikmath. Keynote speeches were delivered by Benyamin, Sharath Chandran, Haritha Savithri, and Loka Kerala Sabha member R. Naganathan. Festival Chairman Preman Illath extended the vote of thanks.

The second day featured vibrant discussions on topics such as the evolution of Malayalam novels, the impact of artificial intelligence, expatriate literature, the digital media landscape, and feminist writing. Highlights of the festival included live portrait sessions, a book exhibition showcasing works by Kuwaiti Malayali authors, and an impressive art gallery.

A major highlight of the closing celebrations was Kavyavaikhari, a visual journey through ten iconic Malayalam poems, ranging from the classics of Ezhuthachan to contemporary works by Murukan Kattakada, offering audiences an immersive cultural experience.

The festival also witnessed the launch of several books by Kuwaiti writers, including Maounangalkkumappuram (poetry collection) by Manju Maikkal, Manelezhuthukal (a compilation of stories and poems) by the Kottayam Kaviyarangu Kuwait Chapter, The Age of Wonders by Reeya Jaffer, and Blooming of Life by Reema Jaffer.

The concluding ceremony, inaugurated once again by Ashokan Charuvil, featured felicitations from Benyamin, Haritha Savithri, Priya Vijayan Shivadas, Sharath Chandran, and R. Naganathan. Presided over by Kala Kuwait President Mathew Joseph, the closing session also saw the participation of Treasurer P.B. Suresh, Vice President P.V. Praveen, Joint Secretary Praseed Karunakaran, and KKLF Chairman Preman Illath. Festival General Convenor Manikandan Vattamkulam offered heartfelt thanks as the memorable event drew to a close.
