Preparations Complete for the Inauguration of Kala Kuwait Literature Festival

The debute Kala Kuwait Literature Festival, organized by the Kerala Art Lovers Association, Kala Kuwait, is all set to take place on April 24 and 25, 2025, as announced by the organizers in a press conference held in Abbasiya.

The literary festival, branded as KKLF, will be hosted at Aspire Indian International School and will feature prominent writers including Ashokan Charuvil, Benyamin, Haritha Savithri, Priya Vijayan Sivadas, and Sharath Chandran (Executive Editor, Kairali TV), who will lead and participate in various sessions.

The event will begin on April 24 at 6:30 PM with the inaugural ceremony, followed by 8 sessions commencing from 9:00 AM on 25 April 2025, featured by notable legends from the literary and cultural scenario of Kerala. Over 250 registered delegates from Kuwait will attend the event as special representatives.

A major highlight of the festival is the M.T. Literary Award, instituted in honor of legendary Malayalam writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair. The award will be presented to a distinguished short story collection by a writer from the GCC region evaluated by a distinguished award committee. In addition, a literary competition for writers in Kuwait has been organized as part of the festival.

The two-day event will feature eight notable sessions, and a cultural Presentation, “Kaavyavaikhari”, a poetic visual Portrail by Kala Kuwait’s own artists, will also be staged. The festival will host a special book pavilion, showcasing published works by past and present writers based in Kuwait. A live art session and painting exhibition by local artists will be another unique attraction.

The valedictory function, to be held on Friday evening, will include the presentation of the M.T. Literary Award and prizes for the winners of the local literary competition. Prominent figures from Kuwait’s cultural and media spheres are expected to attend the closing ceremony.

The press conference at Calicut Chef Restaurant, Abbasiya, was addressed by Kala Kuwait President Mathew Joseph, General Secretary T.V. Hikmath, KKLF Chairman Preman Illath, General Convenor Manikandan Vattamkulam, Kala Kuwait Treasurer P.B. Suresh, and Acting Media Secretary Praseetha Jithin.
