An excitement of exploring a new country Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is a country connecting Europe and Asia, and is known as the Land of Fire. It shares its boundaries with Russia to the north, Georgia to the northwest, Armenia to the west, Iran to the south and Turkey to the west. With culturally rich architecture, lush green landscapes, and lip-smacking food, Azerbaijan has something for every traveler. The capital city of Azerbaijan is Baku. The language of Azerbaijan is Azerbaijani. The currency used in Azerbaijan (BAKU) is Manat (AZN). As we reached Azerbaijan, the first view of Hyder Aliyev Airport was awesome. The airport is designed by Autoban. As we came out of the airport, the weather was cool and pleasant. The guide was waiting with his splitter for us. We stayed in Baku. The hotel rooms in Baku were lavish.
The next day we went to Heydar Aliyev Centre designed by Zaha Hadid, world famous architect. It was designed in such a way that I feel like pondering, photographing and living no corner without a photograph. The next day we went to Baku’s business and hotel complex, Flame Towers, Baku is composed of 3 buildings. The surface of the Towers is fully covered with LED screens reflecting different visual characters in motion, easily visible from the far corners of the city in the evening. We also went to Nizami Street, the food of Nizami Street was delicious. We went to cubuq and ate the crispy potato chips and I ate something different with loaded baked potatoes with cheese, butter, cream, olives, beetroot salad and ketchup. We also ate the famous Azerbaijan food which is called the Shax Plov. It was awesome and the taste was yummy filled with chestnuts, dryfuits and soft mutton in yellow rice with the covering of bread. The next day we explored Gabala, it took us 4 hours from our hotel to reach there.
We explored Gabala through the cable car. It was a view with snow and glory of nature. We also played with snow. For 600 years the city named Kabala used to be the capital of Caucasian Albania, an ancient state that used to exist on the territory of modern Azerbaijan back in the days. After that we went to Shahdag. Shahdag is a mountain resort situated approximately 180 kilometers north of Baku. It is the country’s premier and largest resort. There were many activities in Shahdag like snowmobiling, tubing, paragliding, zip lining etc. We also enjoyed the roller coaster ride in Shahdag which is the only mountain roller coaster in the Caucasus region, I’ll never forget the ride of roller coaster with lots of echo of my mum’s scream in the mountain. I enjoyed with my besties Safa and Zoya. We also went to old Baku city which is also known as Icherisheher or the old Baku city- is the ancient heart of Baku, Azerbaijan. There we also saw the Maiden Tower which is a mysterious 12th century tower with panoramic views. I wish I could stay back and explore more.
