Away, away, in a far land,
With the sun cast sand,
Stood a girl with a mind full of dreams
In a dress-coloured cream.
She looked far away into the horizon,
And stood there still glancing,
As the orange hues dissolved into the sea,
Like the hopes she had and the promises she made.
She watched keenly as the sea swallowed the sun
With its waves crashing against each other.
She did not move when the sun welcomed the moon,
Or when the silence around her loomed.
Finally, she looked above to see a bright light,
Making her cover her eyes tight.
Only to open them again and see the stars,
Embedded on the dark sky,
Like the hopes she had once in her heart.
As the stars twinkled, her eyes blinked,
Then fell a drop of tear,
Then another, another, and another
Until the rain replaced the silence around her.
