The Kuwait Ernakulam Residents Association (KERA) held an Iftar gathering on Friday, March 14 at the Evergreen Auditorium in Abbasiya.
The meeting, chaired by the organization's Vice President Binil Skaria, was welcomed by General Secretary Rajesh Mathew, and then the Secretary of the Kuwait Islamic Group and a well-known figure in the Kuwaiti Malayali community, Mr. Siraj Srambiekal, delivered a speech on the auspicious days of Ramadan. In his words, "Various forms of fasting are observed in all religious communities. Fasting in Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. Fasting requires a person to not only endure hunger and thirst, but also to control his sight, hearing, speech, thought and emotions for the sake of God's will. The Prophet likened the fasting of those who do not observe such restrictions to futile hunger.
"Purify your body and mind, lead a clean and tidy life, treat the helpless, the needy, and the suffering as yourself, and through all this, gain virtue and become God's beloved servant. This is what Ramadan calls upon believers." Very meaningful and reinforcing human values, the need for fasting was conveyed to the audience in a very good way in a short time.
Then, KERA Treasurer Sasikumar and Women's Forum Convener Gini Jacob extended their greetings. Then, representatives of sister organizations Angamaly Association and Aluva Association of Ernakulam district extended their greetings, then Event Coordinator Nigel A.C. ended the meeting with a vote of thanks. Then, everyone participated in the blessed Iftar feast, and the Iftar gathering became even more blessed due to the large number of women and children.
