Hi Friends,
My name is Johan Juby, Studying in Grade 4, ICSK Junior Kuwait.
I love travelling and seeing new places and this time my parents surprised me. Do you know which place we are going to see????
Yeahhhhhhh!!! Hureeeey!!!!
Its SWITZERLAND……
I jumped with joy…. I did a small victory dance. The Day came. I am excited and thrilled …
The flight was from Kuwait to Turkey and to Switzerland. It took 8 hours to reach Switzerland.
I must say it is one of the most amazingly beautiful places I have seen ever! In this travelogue I will share some of our experiences and some of the best pics from our trip. But truly no pictures can do show to the real beauty of the land there and it has to be seen to be believed! It was a 5 days trip started from 20th September 2023.
One of the benefits of going to Switzerland during September is that in this weather is that the days are extremely long - Sunrise happens at 5:30 am and the sunset happens at 9:00 pm - So we enjoyed long days to maximize the experiences!
So… Let us Start?????
Here We Gooooooooo……
Can you Guess the time in this picture????
The time is 8:00PM, Yeah……. its still day time here
We landed in Zurich Airport on the early morning of 26th September. The flight from Kuwait takes around 8 hours to reach there. After reaching there, we took the Train to Zurich City. The trains there are really very efficient and high speed. Many of the trains there are also Double decker trains, where you can sit higher and see the beautiful scenery! Me and my sister sit in the window side… Look my sister, she is studying during the trip….
Ha ha ha
…Visiting the biggest waterfall of Europe - Rhine falls……
The first site visit we planned to explore is the biggest waterfall in Europe, it called Rhine Falls. and it was really amazing. We spent almost 1 1/2 hours in the boat and it was absolutely beautiful. There are three types of boats we can see there. One is Blue color, Red color and yellow color. The blue color boat is bit expensive. I think it depend upon the time of each trip. We took Yellow color Boat. My father wisely took the budget- friendly boat
This is the biggest waterfalls in Europe. It was absolutely breath taking. The boat was shaking and I was little afraid and I sat close to my mother…after spending one and half hours there we came back to our hotel. The hotel was very neat and tidy. We had our dinner early but I couldn’t able to sleep early as I was wondering about our next day trips.
….City of Lakes – Interlaken……
The next day we planned to explore Interlaken city. On reaching Interlaken we were absolutely amazed by the beauty of the place and the lakes there - Interlaken is a city between two lakes - Lake Thun on one side and Brienz on one side. Both lakes are extremely Blue in colour and very clean - I have never seen such blue lakes in my life. You can see the color of the lake in the pictures below -
we took a Interlaken city tour. While walking we ate Ice creams and cakes. The taste of that ice-cream was really out of world. I choose strawberry flavor. This is first place in my life where I csaw how beautiful this world is. …Full of flowers, trees, lakes, mountains etc.... I don’t know how to describe the scenery here…
Also, we shopped delicious Swiss chocolates, watches and some snacks.
Here there is a small town, where many scenes of DDLJ were shot. A park in the town has the statue of Yash Chopra and we took some beautiful photos…
For kids who love nature, Switzerland is a unique place where we can explore a lot of things. There was lot of adventurous activities in Interlaken City. My father did the paragliding there. You can paraglide here from the age of 5! From that height in the air you can see the two lakes Interlaken— Brienz and Thun. But I am sure that he was little afraid. yes, I read it from his face…
The Magic of Interlaken
In the afternoon, we took a train to Lucerne. There we stayed at hotel IBIS. In the evening, we saw the saddest lion monument. And I played with goose and swans near the lake. From there, we went to Chapple bridge and some churchs.
By the way I want to share one some tips if you are planning to visit Switzerland. One of the really good decisions my father took before our journey was to take a "Swiss Travel Pass" for our trip and with this pass one can do unlimited travel in Swiss Trains, Buses and even Boats in any of the cities. Apart from this, you also get discounts on Passes to places like Jungfrau and Mount Titlis. Children below the age of 10 are also complimentary when travelling with an adult as a Family pass. Also the food is so expensive there , especially in restaurants. So its better to order the food from mc Donalds and other supermarkets.
Top of Europe - Jungfrau
This was the most awaited day!!!!!.
Yes, we are going to the top of Switzerland
Do you know, last night me and my sister planned to make igloo house with snow. So the next day we wake up early and left around 7:30 am for Jungfrau.. We needed to change three trains. Jungfrau is the ‘Top of Europe’ It is the highest mountain in Switzerland. We were well prepared for the cold and were wearing heavy jackets. It was the first time I am seeing the cable cars.
The scenery on the way to Jungfrau is just mind-blowing! The Glacier cave in Jungfrau is also a wonder and very nicely maintained.
Hiking in Switzerland should not be a once in a lifetime experience. We made the igloo house and spend around an hour in the snow and it was extreme cold there. We bought some souvenirs, Chicco clock, tea cups and key chains from there. On the way back to home, we bought some Lindt chocolates for our cousins and neighbors.
Where man and nature come so close together – Grindelwald
The next day we visited a beautiful village in Switzerland called
“ GRINDELWALD”
Here all houses are made of woods and they all have a beautiful balcony with small gardens. we walked the city around 45 minutes and there was a small rain over there. We plucked some green apples from the road side. But it was not ripened… on the way back to railway station we saw some cows with huge bells, chains etc.…
Hiking around the prettiest car free villages of Swiss - Wengen, Murren
The next day, we wake up early in the morning and took a walk near our hotel .Wengen was a clean and beautiful city and vehicle free also. we can feel the fresh air here..
I also saw many farm lands there. Most of them are vegetables. The people over there are very friendly. Today is the last day in Switzerland. So I decided to enjoy and explore the Switzerland maximum. We had some Switzerland authentic food from a well known restaurant. I don’t remember the name of that dish. I think they will add cheese to all the dished.. freshly made cheese……
Look at the below picture, this was the hotel we stayed, we can see the mountain from the window side
And finally, back to home…. As this can read from my face…
It was with a very heavy heart that I boarded the flight to leave SWITZERLAND…..
BYE BYE SWITZERLAND… SEE YOU SOON AGAIN …..
if there is heaven on earth, it is Switzerland……
I hope you all had good time reading my Travelogue.
