Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC-Kuwait) organized a condolence meeting for the late former Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Saturday 28th December 2024, at the United Indian School Abbasiya. The Meeting chaired by B.S Pillai, General Secretary, Organization In-Charge, started the meeting by paying homage to the great writer MT Vasudevan Nair. One of the best Economists and a great Statesman that India had been privileged to have at our helmet of affairs, as two term PM, Pillai said in his presidential address.
Farooq Hamadani, Vice President, KMCC highlighted Manmohan Singh’s strategy that empowering rural populations only could alleviate poverty. “And he was instrumental in navigating India out of Global economic crisis during his time as Finance Minster in Narasimha Rao’s cabinet”, Hamadani quoted.
OICC official, Krishnan Kadalundi briefed a condolence message emphasizing Manmohan Singh’s legacy that included initiatives such as Mahatma Gandhis National rural employment guaranteed that opened opportunities to thousands of housewives.
KMCC Kozhikode District President Azeez Thikkodi, OICC National Secretary Nissam Thiruvananthapuram, and Lulu Exchange official Shafaz Ahmad Fazal. Representatives from OICC’s district and affiliate organizations, such as Binoy Chandran, Surendran Moongath, Anoop Soman, Shobin Sunny, Bathar Vaikom, Sabu Paul, Aby Pathanamthitta, Al Ameen, Mathew Maranad, Wilson Bathery, Chinnu Roy, Anil Cheemeni, Vineesh Pallak, Anil Varkala, Reji Koruth, Ismail Malappuram, Babu Abraham, A.I. Kurian, and Nasser were extended their condolence messages during the meeting.
Suresh Mathur, National Secretary welcomed the audience while Joy Karavaloor, National secretary proposed vote of thanks. Floral tributes were then offered to Manmohan Singh’s Portrait. Shabeer Koilandy, Kalesh B Pillai and Chandra Mohan coordinated for the success of the meeting.
