Indian Public School, Salmiya organised a career guidance programme for the students and parents of class X on 12th December 2024 from 4 PM to 8.30 PM at the school auditorium. The programme was conducted in two sessions to accommodate all the parents and students. Mr Jomy P.L, the Director of Sensorium Center for Advanced Learning and IMS (Thrissur) was the resource person. He is a renowned Educator, Author, Career Coach and Columnist. The session was titled, ‘Navigating Future’.
The resource person guided the parents and students through the various career options available for students in India and abroad. He also briefed them on the competitive examinations which are to be cleared in order to get admission in the high ranking universities around the world. He spoke about the scholarship options available in the reputed colleges across the globe.
The students usually wait for their class XII Board examination results to start applying for the colleges, which is apparently not the right way to proceed. Mr Jomy instructed the students to start with their preparations from Class IX onwards. The students could take various aptitude tests in order to choose the right career from the millions of options available. He asked them to look for the skills which are in high demand and proceed accordingly, rather than going for the stereotypical professions. He steered them through the reputed colleges in India which are easily accessible for the students from other nationalities.
The programme concluded with a Q & A round which gave the students and parents ample opportunity to clarify their queries. This interactive session was appreciated by all present.
