As Indians, we find English language to be an integral part of our lives in this foreign land of Kuwait. It’s a necessity to understand people and be understood. It is a bridge between the people speaking Arabic and the ones speaking their mother tongue from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines or any other country of the world. Thus, we at Salmiya Indian Model School celebrated the English Literary week with much pomp and show. It was a celebration of unity, integration and a healthy sense of competition.
The primary section of SIMS celebrated the English Literary week with multiple events lined up throughout the week. The events commenced on November 24 and lasted till December 2. It began with the Grade 1 Choral Recitation Competition. The little rock stars performed brilliantly, reciting poems on topics such as the moon, their first day, All Things Bright and Beautiful, winter, swings, mothers, magic, and teachers. Some even had beautiful props that enhanced the experience of the feeling of joy. Well-trained and well disciplined young members of the choir simply mesmerized the judges and the audience, making the task of selecting winners quite difficult. The next day it was Grade 2 that performed on stage. Another round of varied topics such as Love like snow, a little mistake, the town Child, The visitor, My Shadow, Crocodile's Toothache, Equipment and dreams of world peace.
