IEI Kuwait Chapter and FAIPS-DPS Collaborate to Host an Inspiring Lecture by Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai: A Vision for Space Science and Humanity's Future
The Institution of Engineers (India) – Kuwait Chapter, in collaboration with FAIPS-DPS, successfully organized an enlightening lecture titled “Innovation in Space Science and the Future of Humanity” on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Auditorium of FAIPS-DPS Ahmadi, Kuwait. The event featured Padma Shri & Padma Bhushan Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, a globally renowned space scientist and visionary, as the Chief Guest. Known for his pivotal contributions to India’s defense and space programs, Dr. Pillai captivated an audience of over 1,250 students from FAIPS-DPS and three other leading schools in Kuwait, making the event a monumental success.
The event was meticulously conducted by the talented students of FAIPS-DPS, who served as the Masters of Ceremony, showcasing their professionalism and poise throughout the program.
The program officially commenced with the Kuwait National Anthem, marking the start of the event. Bouquets were presented to the dignitaries, including Mr. Ravi Ayanoli, Principal of DPS, Chief Guest Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, distinguished scientist at DRDO and ISRO, Ms. Vineeta Munshi, Vice Principal (Admin), Dr. Sheeba Balraj Kdyan, Vice Principal (Academics), by key members of the IEI Kuwait Chapter, including Dr. Mahendran, Past Chairman, Eng. Sam Ananth, Honorary Chairman, Eng. Sudhir Menghani, Honorary General Secretary, and Eng. Karthikeyan Manickam, Treasurer. This ceremonial gesture set the tone for an inspiring session ahead. The opening inauguration address were delivered by Mr. Ravi Ayanoli, Principal of FAIPS-DPS, who emphasized the importance of nurturing curiosity and inspiring students to dream big in science and technology also reiterated the importance of shifting the focus from purely academic oriented education to life skill based education in order to help the students to adapt well in the uncertain future where many of the current professions would become obsolete. The Chief Guest, Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, was introduced by a FAIPS-DPS student highlighting his remarkable achievements as the Founder, MD, and Former CEO of BrahMos Aerospace, as well as a distinguished scientist at DRDO and ISRO.
Dr. Pillai’s keynote lecture was the highlight of the event. He explored the transformative potential of innovation in space science, emphasizing its role in shaping the future of humanity. His speech delved into technological advancements, sustainability, and the critical role of engineers and scientists in addressing global challenges. His words left a profound impact on the young audience, inspiring them to think creatively and boldly about their future careers in science, technology, and engineering.
The interactive Q&A session provided students with an opportunity to engage directly with Dr. Pillai. Their thoughtful questions about space exploration, artificial intelligence, and sustainability reflected their enthusiasm and curiosity. Dr. Pillai answered each query with great enthusiasm, further fueling their passion for learning.
As a token of appreciation, mementos were presented to the dignitaries. Dr. Mahendran honored Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai with a memento, and in turn, Dr. Pillai presented mementos to Mr. Ravi Ayanoli, Principal of DPS, this exchange of mementos highlighted the collaborative spirit of the program, bringing together educators, engineers, and students in a shared journey of learning and inspiration.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Eng. Sudhir Menghani, Honorary General Secretary of the IEI Kuwait Chapter. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Pillai, the school leadership, the students, and all the participants who contributed to the event’s success. The event left an indelible impression on the students, inspiring them to pursue science and technology with a vision for sustainability and innovation.
