Comics have always been my favorite hobby, either making, reading or downloading. I want YOU to enjoy them as much as I do. Here are 5 MUST READ COMICS for kids from 9 to 12.
Cleopatra in space
When I first saw this book, I was a little skeptical. But once I got one of them, BOY, they were GREAT! There are 6 books in this series, and they all join to form one story. When I say they are great, I mean REALLY great. All I can say is that the author, (Mike Maihack) is an amazing author. The story features a girl (Cleopatra) who suddenly finds herself transported into the future, much further than our time. An unlikely story, huh? I thought so too, but this book is purely incredible. It is a bit difficult to understand, in fact, I think that it is more suitable for teenagers and pre- adults. But this book will make you feel excited when there is an interesting scene, worried when there is a scene of suspense and rejoice when there is a victorious scene. This book is a package of humor, suspense, fantasy, action, adventure, villains, and lots of cats (đ) I seriously recommend this book to everyone out there who is reading this article, because this is certainly a must- have.
Sisters
Sisters by Raina Telgemeier is relatable, funny and will keep you engaged throughout the book. This is one of my most favorite books (Made by my favorite author!) The story features Raina as a child and her sister, Amara. Over the years, they donât get along very much. But when they are left alone in their car during a road trip while their mom finds a tow- truck, both the girls need to solve their problems and get along- they are sisters after all! The illustrations are sweet and so is the story- typical sisters who never get along. I urge you to read this book or find a pdf, thanks to Ocean of pdf, an instant book downloading website.
The Baby- sitters club
Baby-sitters club fans, rejoice! Raina Telgemeier loved the baby- sitters club books when she was little, so she started to make the baby- sitters club graphic novel series. The first four were written by her, but the rest of the comic books were written by the authors Gale Gilligan, Gabriela Epstein, Chan Chau, Cynthia Yuan Cheng, Ellen T. Crenshaw and Arley Nopra. There are fifteen books in this series. Book 16, Kristy and the walking disaster is coming soon, though! I found this book very interesting and enjoyable. You try it too!
Stepping stones
I enjoyed this book very much. I found it very lovely, funny and sweet. The story features a girl, Jen, who comes to live on a farm after her motherâs recent divorce. She does not like the farm, the work, her momâs fiancĂ©, and especially her new âsisters â, Andy and Reese. Both are haughty, vain, and annoying. Although she hates the farm, she makes friends with barn kittens, raises chickens, gets lots of honey sticks at the market where they sell their farm products and a lovely lake. Maybe living on the farm wouldnât be so bad?
Lucy Knisley tells a story like her own with beautiful illustrations and relatable situations.
Smile
The same author as âSistersâ mentioned before writes her first and most famous graphic novel- Smile. Raina severely injured her two front teeth after falling when she was coming from girl scouts. The result was that her front teeth were pushed upwards and made her look different. The long process of recovery was endless. On and off braces, headgear and a lot more. After a long time of trying to put her teeth back in their place, the doctors thought of a brilliant and revolutionary idea. What he would do is to extract her pushed- up teeth and let the rest of her teeth come together. But that process would be very painful and embarrassing in front of her friends. As if that wasnât enough, a major earthquake, boy confusion and lots of mean friends had to top it off.
Raina Telgemieir tells her own, painful journey of dental drama and typical teenage problems for other people who might be going through the same things.
I enjoyed all these books plenty and I do urge you to read them and enjoy them as much as I enjoyed them.
