The Indian Dentists' Alliance in Kuwait (IDAK) organized a successful dental camp at Khalifa School for Special Needs, Salmiya, on October 28, 2024. The camp focused on early dental screening to identify potential issues, promote oral hygiene, and educate students, teachers, and caregivers on proper dental care.
Representatives from IDAK included Dr. Prashanthy R Prasad, Chair of the IDAK Community Welfare Committee; Dr. Ajay Vazhiyodan, Co-Chair; and advisor Dr. Rajesh Alexander. A team of dedicated volunteer dentists, including Dr. Thomas Thomas, Dr. Simi Bhargavi, Dr. Dhanalakshmi Mannem, Dr. Aastha Mehta, Dr. Valentina Fernandes, Dr. Susmita Rachel, Dr. Ranjitha R S, and Dr. Maymoona Zaidi, participated in the camp. Dr. Ranjitha R S led an interactive session for children and caregivers, demonstrating brushing and flossing techniques tailored for special needs.
IDAK provided dental handbooks published in partnership with Mango Hyper, along with brushing aids for students and caregivers. The handbooks, designed to support good oral health, were a valuable addition to the event’s focus on hygiene education.
The organization extended its gratitude to Mango Hyper, Al Mulla Exchange Company, Lacalut Toothpaste, Arabiya Clinic, and Dental 8 Clinic for their logistical support.
The management of Khalifa School, represented by Principal Mr. Jawad Kawtharani, Vice Principal Mrs. Hanna John, Mrs. Munira Al Jabri, and Dr. Bindu Philip, expressed their appreciation to IDAK for its valuable service in screening approximately 230 students, underscoring the importance of community welfare initiatives in supporting children with special needs.
