Festival of lights

When we say “Festival of Lights”, the first thing that strikes our mind is Diwali (Deepavali). Diwali symbolizes victory over darkness, good over evil and promotes unity and brotherhood. It is one of the most popular festivals of Hindus which is celebrated with great delight. Youngsters love this festival as it brings a lot of happiness moments for everyone, as they meet their family, friends and relatives. All share greetings and gifts with their loved ones.

On this day, people all over India celebrate Diwali by lighting earthen oil lamps and decorate their houses with lights of different colors and sizes, wear new clothes. Kids celebrate by bursting crackers. Diwali falls on the 20th day after the festival of Dussehra, mostly in October or November every year. Gift exchanges and traditional sweets symbolize love, respect and stronger bond between them.

On this occasion of Diwali, there are several activities, which are organized across schools and other institutions to celebrate this joyous celebration. Diwali is a five –day long festival.

Diwali is more than just festival. It brings all ages of people together. Many injuries happen during this festival because of crackers. So let’s all celebrate with precautions.
