"I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." – Robert Frost

Carmel School auditorium was bathed in the warm glow of autumnal ombre hues as Robert Frost’s immortal words from The Road Not Taken set the tone for the prestigious O'Grade Award Ceremony held on Saturday, 21st September 2024. This grand occasion honored the finest academic and all-round achievers from Grades 9 to 12, celebrating their dedication and unwavering commitment to excellence.

The ceremony opened with the dignified Guard of Honour, that welcomed esteemed dignitaries with grace and solemnity. Upholding tradition, the programme began with a prayer, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran and a melodious prayer song that filled the hall with reverence. The stage backdrop, adorned with the words "Dare to Take the Road Not Taken," perfectly encapsulated the theme of making bold choices.

The Principal Sr. Saritha Monteiro, welcomed the gathering. Her words set the perfect tone of warmth, gratitude, and anticipation for the event ahead. The event was graced by the chief guest, H.E. Anne Koistinen, EU Ambassador to the State of Kuwait; Mr. Ashok Kalra, Managing Director of Mughal Mahal Group, Mrs. Nilam Chadha, principals from various Indian schools in Kuwait, proud parents, and students.

The audience was treated to an array of dazzling acts. A vibrant medley of country songs set a lively tone, followed by an energetic Western country dance that brimmed with spirit and rhythm. The mesmerizing hand-tutting display left the crowd in awe, with its intricate movements. The school band then enthralled the audience, skillfully weaving together famous melodies with their impressive instrumental prowess, adding to the cultural tapestry, an enchanting Indian dance performed by the students cast a spell over the audience.

In a poetic tribute to Frost’s The Road Not Taken, a dance interpretation captured the soul of the poem, conveying its profound message about life’s choices—an apt reflection of the theme. This was followed by a video report, an impressive montage that documented the highlights of Carmel School's eventful academic year, 2023-2024, showcasing the spirit, camaraderie, and accomplishments of the school community.

The highlight, was the much-anticipated presentation of the Founder’s Prizes and O’Grade Awards. Each award, handed to the deserving students, was a testament to their hard work, resilience, and all-around excellence. The chief guest, H.E Anne Koistinen and the benefactor, Mr. Ashok Kalra delivered eloquent speeches, brimming with wisdom and admiration for the students. Their words, further emphasized the central theme of making wise choices.

The ceremony also paid tribute to the outgoing members of the school council, recognizing their dedication and service with deep appreciation. As the ceremony drew to a close, the head girl, Ms. Rachana Jessintha Roby George, delivered a sincere vote of thanks, expressing deep gratitude for the tireless efforts of both students and teachers.

The O'Grade Award Ceremony concluded with the singing of Carmel School anthem, leaving a lasting sense of pride and accomplishment in the hearts of all those present. It was, without a doubt, an event to remember—celebrating brilliance and the boundless potential that lies in every road yet to be taken.
