Indian Muslim Welfare Association held its 29th Annual General Body Meeting on Friday, August 30, 2024, after giving 30 days’ notice with the agenda of the meeting specifying the date, time and venue to all members of the association. The AGBM was held at Rajdhani Restaurant in Khaitan. The meeting commenced with a recitation from the holy Quran. Members were accorded a grand welcome by the General Secretary Brother Firdaus Alam Khan who was the emcee of the meeting presented his high-spirited speech which resonated among the audience.
The presence of a good number of attendees was indeed very encouraging. The outgoing President Dr Mohammed Naimuddin spoke about the achievements during his tenure as a President, he expressed his views on good leadership which is a source of guidance to collective success. He spoke about the current worldly affairs and prayed for the restoration of peace in disturbed nations. He praised the Executive Committee Members who worked hard despite confronting hurdles under his leadership in organizing IMWA’s annual events in an orderly manner while praising their dedication towards discharging their responsibilities as and when assigned to them. Dr Naimuddin thanked the members for bestowing the honor of the highest position in the association and stated that he is now signing off as President.
The association treasurer Brother Mohammed Asif read out the annual audited financial report. for the academic year 2023-24, Brother Firdaus Alam then requested the members in the audience to express their views and give suggestions to improve the association's functioning. Brother Mohammed Azeem came up with a brilliant proposal of imparting free tuition in Mathematics to students who hail from economically weak families, which was welcomed by all amid applause when another member Brother Salman said he would be happy to provide classrooms free of rent to carry out this good deed.
The General secretary announced that it was time to conduct the election and called upon the election commissioner Brother Syed Ifthekar Ahmed to take over the dais. Brother Ifthekar read out the names of the nominees who were proposed and seconded by IMWA members. After scrutinizing the nominations, he then conducted the plebiscite in a swift manner after which there was a healthy interaction between the Election Commissioner and the members present in the audience.
The election commissioner declared the results by announcing the names of the office-bearers and executive committee members. Brother Syed Hanif Ahmed was declared the new President amid applause and congratulations from cheering members. Following are the names of the newly elected executive committee members Governing Body President: Syed Hanif Ahmed, Vice-President Muzammil Malik, General Secretary: Firdaus Alam Khan, Joint Secretary: Khalid Damodar, Treasurer: Mohammed Asif, Joint Treasurer Feroz Maqbool Khazi, Executive Committee Members Israr Ahmed, Shafaq Mumtaz, Kaleem Ansari, Hyder Ali, Syed Nadeem, Aleem Siddiqi.
Brother Firdaus Alam Khan thanked the members for their gracious presence and ended the meeting. A Buffet dinner was served to the members. The meeting created a better understanding and strengthened the bond among IMWA members, which ended with a positive note.
