IMA Kuwait United Volleyball Club Celebrates 78th Independence Day of India

A sports activity plays an important role in shaping and developing the personality of a person in both their individual and social life. It develops a team spirit and a leadership skill and quality in a person associated with the games and sports in different formats. Keeping these facts in mind, Indian Muslim Association (IMA) Kuwait has always strived to promote different cultural and sport activities among its members at various levels, starting right from its Children Circle, & Youth Wing up to the higher levels among its main cadres.

In a vibrant celebration of India’s 78th Independence Day, the United Volleyball Club, an entity of IMA Senior Members organized a thrilling Volleyball Tournament on the 9th and 16th of August 2024 at Salmiya Garden. The event saw enthusiastic participation from a total of 14 teams.

The tournament was a grand success, fostering a spirit of unity and sportsmanship among the community members. The matches were highly competitive, showcasing remarkable talent and teamwork across all participating teams.

The winner was Team Gurkha Khukri while IMA Kuwait Team ended up as a runner in the tournament led by its captain Br Siraj.

The tournament concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where the Chief Guest IMA Senior Member Mr Ahmed Ali Sahab, presented the winner's trophy to the triumphant Gurkha Khukri team. The team’s victory was a testament to their dedication and skill on the court.

Brother Seraj, the captain of the IMA team, graciously accepted the runner-up trophy, commending his team for their outstanding performance and determination throughout the tournament.

The Best Setter Award was given to Mr. Helerio, the captain of Team Gurkha Khukri while the Best Attacker Award went to Mr. Siraj, the captain of Team IMA Kuwait / United Volley Ball Club.

The event was a fitting tribute to India's Independence Day, bringing together community members in a joyous and competitive environment. The United Volleyball Club looks forward to organizing more such events in the future to continue promoting sports and camaraderie within the community.

IMA Kuwait, an Indian socio-religious organization, operates under the patronage of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Kuwait. It focuses on providing a platform for the spiritual, social as well as cultural enhancement of expatriates living in Kuwait through various programs and social gatherings. It looks forward to organizing more beneficial programs and sport activities in the future, catering to the needs of the expatriate community, especially the Indian diaspora.
