Hindi Diwas 'Samaroh 2023-24' was celebrated with much enthusiasm under the aegis of the Department of Hindi at Indian Educational School on September 14, 2023, with the objective of infusing in the young Bhavanites a love for learning and appreciating the Hindi language.
The programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mohammed Safwan followed by a prayer in Hindi and the Kuwait National Anthem by the school choir. Anjalika and Avanthika from grade 6A gracefully performed an invocation dance which added more appeal to the whole event. Ms. Anjusha Jayvale, Head of department of Hindi (Senior wing) formally welcomed the gathering and touched upon the significance of celebrating such a momentous event. Mr. T. Premkumar principal in his inaugural address enlightened the students with various insights into the scope, development, and popularity of Hindi across the globe. He urged the students to make an earnest effort to improve their communication skill in Hindi so that they can enjoy the nuances of the language. Hindi is widely spoken in Nepal, Fuji, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago which stands testimony to the popularity of Hindi.
On behalf of the student community Rihanna Aira Manoj of grade 4 C delivered a speech highlighting the significance of the Hindi language. As a mark of this year’s celebration of ‘Hindi Diwas Samaroh 2023-24’ great emphasis was given to recitation. Competing with 17 Indian schools in Kuwait the exemplary students of grades 3 and 4 won the hearts of one and all with their exceptional recitation skills. They were adjudged by two eminent judges Ms. Ankita Varma and Ms. Shweta Shruti, from the parent community of Bhavans’ family.
The prize winners were honoured with trophies and certificates. In the grade 3 category, the first place was bagged by Prajesh Devadiga of Carmel School, Kuwait, second place was won by Mafaddal Burhanuddin of Indian English Academy School, Kuwait and the third place was secured by Aamina Faisal from Indian Learners Own Academy School, Kuwait. In class 4 category first place was won by Lairen Mascarenhas from Indian Community School Amman, Kuwait, the second place was bagged by Arbinah Shaikh from Indian Central School, Kuwait, and third place was secured by Keerat Kaur from Indian Learner’s Own Academy, Kuwait.
Ms. Muneera Mamikutty, the Headmistress of IES in her address, orienting the students about the importance of Hindi language added that such celebrations will help in upholding the rich culture and heritage of our motherland India. She applauded the prize winners and urged them to continue to hone their language skills. She appreciated the efforts of the Heads of the department of Hindi, Ms. Anjusha Jayvale, and Ms. Vijaya Indra Krishok of primary and senior respectively and their team for making the day a memorable one.
Thus, the ‘Hindi Diwas Samaroh 2023-24’ concluded with a call for Bhavanites to spread their wingspans to rise and glide through the vast expanse of Hindi language and Literature. Ms. Vijaya Indra Krishok, Head of the Department of Hindi (Primary) proposed the vote of thanks. The emcees of the day were Ayisha Pavne and Fathima Pavne from grade 6A.
