National sports day  celebrated at SIMS

On the National Sports Day of India, the Physical Education department of Salmiya Indian Model School organised a friendly football match for the students of classes VII to X; the match was played between the enthusiastic teams of Sapphire and Emerald houses, under the guidance of Mr. Ahmed, HOD (Physical Education) and Mr. Maggeswar, the senior Faculty member of PE department.

On the first day of school, after a long summer vacation, it was a great initiative of promoting the idea of staying fit and healthy. On this occasion Director/ Principal Dr Anis Ahmad and Vice Principal Ms Sajitha Menon were present on the football ground to boost the confidence and encourage the inspiring players. The aim of this match was to inculcate the importance of sports and physical fitness among students.

In India, National Sports Day is celebrated on August 29th every year. This date marks the birthday of the legendary Indian field hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand. He is considered one of the greatest field hockey players in history and played a crucial role in India's three consecutive Olympic gold medal wins in 1928, 1932, and 1936.

As this day aims to inspire people of all ages to engage in sports and physical activities, , the students of Salmiya Indian Model School were seen geared up with zeal and energy, highlighting the positive impact these activities have on overall well-being.
