A Letter For you

Dear Alter Ego,

Thank you for what you've been to me for the last year. Last year was tough and gritty yet you are the one who made me open my doors and windows to a wider perspective. Thank you for being with me and taking care of my cynical and negative side. You made me realise that there is a 'you' in me.

Through thick and thin, you've been a light which I always wished for, in a new chapter of my life. Thank you for still guiding me to tune into others' perspectives and filter them out.

Thank you for helping me to love myself a bit more and being with me much more to explore new paths and opportunities. There have been days where I've felt famished, exhausted, annoyed and irritated with my true negative self being evident. I've been ashamed of my impulsive and angry attitude yet you taught me that it was okay to be angry at times. All I needed was a place to open up and think about it more effectively. With you being my counsellor and ray of help and hope, that too was easy even though I was annoyed and avoided you as well. At times, you've stood afar and observed me without doing or advising me. As I walked a few kilometres, that's when I understood the purpose of you not being there. Your hints and clues through your conversations that took place long back and my output helped me become who I am today. Thank you for putting up a mirror and helping me to see all of myself even though there is a lot more to seek, know and understand in the coming years. For all the routines and walks we took, you made me silent, distracted at times but also stronger through the paths we've walked through. You are the backbone of who I am now and today.

Even if we fall apart, let's walk together till the road ends with a more cognitive mind and understanding heart without overthinking it to the extreme level.
