The Last Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (PUBH) said “Oh people! A great month is coming to you. A blessed month. A month in which there is one night that is better than a thousand months. A month in which Allah has made it compulsory upon you to fast by day, and voluntary to pray by night. (Hadith)
Indian Muslim Association (IMA) Kuwait, under the supervision of the Ministry of Awkaf & Islamic Affairs Kuwait, organized physical public programs on Isteqbal e Ramadan in coordination of its Zonal Units like Salmiya, Khaitan, Abbasiya, Abu Halifa, Fahaheel, City Unit, TMA, Ladies Wing and English Unit in different parts of Kuwait on 16th & 17th March 2023 respectively after Friday and Esha Prayer, covering mainly the two topics i.e Isteqbal e Ramadan or how to welcome Ramadan & the Significance of Zakat (Charity) in Islam.
Speaking on the topic of *The Isteqbal e Ramadan, Its Purpose and Planning*, the main key speakers in different area programs hosted by IMA Local Units, highlighted that the month of Ramadan is the month of Taqwa and the Essence of Ramadan is Quran. The Quran, revealed in the month of Ramadan, is the best & perfect guidance for human beings. The main purpose of Ramadan is to bring a change in a man’s life and to accomplish the fear of Allah which consequently reflects in the internal and the external character of a person. It’s one of the main purposes is to follow and obey the commands of Allah in one’s entire life, if fasting in the month of Ramadan does not bring a positive change in the attitude and the behavior of a person then the his or her fasting is invaluable in the eyes of Allah.
It is equally emphasized almost in all programs that we all should take a full advantage of this blessed month and make a schedule to increase our relations with Allah. It is the duty of all Muslims to welcome the month of Ramadan with a perfect planning, keeping in mind the entire day & night schedule since dawn till dusk in order to utilize the blessings & Barakah of this holy month in the true spirit of Islam accordingly.
Speaking on the other topic, *the Significance of Zakat (Charity) in Islam*, the respective speakers illustrated in detail the significance of Zakat in Islam with the reference of Quran & Hadith. Zakat is the 3rd pillar of Islam and the instruction to pay Zakat has been mentioned almost 82 times along with Salat in Quran. It shows how high and important is the place of Zakat in Islam. They further said that the month of Ramadan is the month of sympathy and charity, therefore people should practice whole heartedly to do all types of charity such as helping the needy to break their fast (IFTAR), providing all sort of assistances to the needy people etc. Fasting in fact is a way of understanding a poor’s hunger and thrust hence we feel happy to do charity services readily and passionately.
Finally, the program at all locations came to an end with a question & answer session covering the main topic of the program *“THE MESSAGE OF RAMADAN & THE SIGNICANCE OF ZAKAT IN ISLAM”*, moderated by different convenors in the Zonal Units as well as the key speakers respectively. More than thousand people attended these programs in their respective area and got benefitted Alhamdolillah. Food packets were served at the end of the program.
