Indian Embassy-Kuwait Official’s quick support and laudable efforts for stranded Indians in Kuwait

Recent effort of Indian Embassy-Kuwait to repatriate an Indian National Mr. Ramachandran Vairavamoorthy who was admitted in Farwaniya Hospital-Kuwait, to his hometown in India is highly applaudable.

Mr. Ramachandran Vairavamoorthy, 48 years old Indian National who recently came to Kuwait as a domestic worker. On 4th May 2022, he fell down unconsciously and he was admitted to Farwaniya Hospital. He was diagnosed with left cerebral hematoma and he was under medication. As he does not have any relatives or friends in Kuwait, Mr. Ali, President, Tamil Makkal Sevai Maiyam-Kuwait, and Social Worker Mrs. Shiny Frank took up the matter with Indian Embassy, Kuwait for further follow-up and support.

Upon receiving the information, Indian Embassy Officials First secretary, Community welfare & Labour wing Mr. Rahul and his team Mr. Shajan arranged for all the necessary medical support to him at the Hospital.

Meantime his family in India approached Mr. Nelliyan & Mr. Mathi, social worker for the necessary support to repatriate him back to India. Mr. Mathi who is currently in India, sought the help from Indian embassy officials and requested to expedite the repatriation process.

With the guidance of Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Shri. HH Sibi George, Indian embassy officials took the initiative to send him back to India to re-join with his family. As advised by doctors, Indian Embassy made all the necessary arrangements such as stretcher, and escort person to accompanying him for his travel. It is remarkable to mention that Indian Embassy-Kuwait manage to take care of all the expenses including stretcher, ambulift charges, flight tickets for both persons etc.

He has been repatriated back to Chennai on 19th June 2022 with the necessary medical escort facilities. In advance Mr. Mathi has arranged for all the necessary ambulance and required medical support in Chennai with the help of Sr. Josephine Amala Valarmathi, State Coordinator-National Domestic Workers Moment and Rehabilitation and welfare of Non-Resident Tamils (RW-NRT). Sr. Josephine Amala Valarmathi, and members from RW-NRT received him in Chennai Airport and sent him to Pudukottai Government Hospital (Pudukottai, Tamilnadu) by ambulance for further medical treatment.

In another such incident, Indian Embassy officials repatriated an Indian boy who was bedridden in KOC hospital since March 2020. Couple of months back, Embassy of India in Kuwait received a request from KOC hospital for the early repatriation of a 14-year-old Indian, Master Abdul Haneef for further treatment as there is no one here except his mother who is a Srilankan National. After getting all the necessary approvals & documents from India, Indian Embassy made the necessary arrangements for their travel with the help of Kuwait government. He had been repatriated back on 2nd Dec 2021 with the necessary medical escort facilities.

Similarly, an Indian child who was having trouble in travelling and stranded in Kuwait without proper documents. Indian Embassy Kuwait intervened into the matter and arranged for all the necessary documents with the support of Kuwait Authorities and helped for his safe return to India recently. Mr. Mathi coordinated with Embassy officials Mr. Mujeeb & Mr. Ashfaq, members and families during all these activities.

It is noteworthy to mention that the Indian Embassy officials regularly visit & provide the possible support to the Indian Labours / workers admitted in the Kuwait hospitals without having relations and friends in Kuwait.

In such a way, Welfare & Labour wing of Indian Embassy in Kuwait is helping for the stranded Indian Nationals in all the possible ways within the bounds of Kuwait Govt. Laws & Rules. Indian Embassy in Kuwait’s such effort are highly commendable.
