Indian Education School Celebrates Mother’s Day

Indian Education School, Kuwait held a pompous Mother’s Day Celebration on May 8, 2022, under the aegis of the Department of English to honour and appreciate the mothers across all walks of life. A plethora of both, onstage and offstage events, marked the day with vibrant performances and contributions of the students of IES, Kuwait right from kindergarten to Grade 12. The Chairman of Bhavans Middle East, Mr. N. K. Ramachandran Menon and the Chief Guest of the day, Director of Bhavans Middle East, CA Divya Rajesh Ramachandran graced the occasion with their presence.

The onstage events were wonderfully coordinated by the emcees of the day, Akshitha Rajesh, and Abigail Lisa Abraham of Grade 9. The program began by invoking the blessings of the Almighty through the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mohammed Zeeshan of Grade 4 and the prayer song by Akshitha Rajesh. The word of the day and idiom of the day were presented by Ms. Gayathri Sunil Kumar of Grade 4. This was followed by the welcome address by the Vice-Principal (Senior Wing) Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar.

The performances were set in motion with a poetry visualisation performed by Irene Sara and Keerthana Girish of 12 F, after which the audience was taken on a graceful dance performance by the dance teachers, Ms. Aiswarya Usha Kumari, Ms. Sruthy Binu, and Ms. Vineetha Pradip. Students of grade 4 presented a musical skit, ‘Journey of a Mother’. Touching the hearts of all present, the tiny tots of the kindergarten section expressed their affection by greeting their mothers with lovely palm cards as tokens of love. A treasure trove of talents, the students of grade 5 inspired the gathering with the recitation of poems that were specially penned by them in honour of the day. To highlight the indispensable and irreplaceable personage of a mother, the students of grade 7 showcased a video presentation titled ‘My Unique Mom’. A pleasant surprise and an added spark of joy was a beautiful song sung by the Vice-Principal (Middle Wing) Mr. Binoy Mathew.

Handprinted cards by the kindergarten section, award ribbons and cards with acrostic poems by grades 1 and 2, flower bouquets by grade 3 and paper quilled flowers with cinquain poems by grade 4, left the Primary Wing buzzing with excitement. The students of the middle wing made creative Mother’s Day posters, ribbon flowers, and videos to celebrate everlasting love for their mothers. The students of grade 9 released ‘Mom Times’, a special newspaper featuring the achievements of their mothers and the students of grades 10 and 12 presented lovely visualisations of poems penned in gratitude for their mothers.

After an array of performances, Chief Guest of the day, CA Divya Rajesh Ramachandran addressed the audience. She sensitised the students to the daily challenges that mothers undertake to ensure the wellbeing of their family and urged each child to appreciate their mother’s love. She also encouraged the students to never hesitate apologising to their mothers when they commit mistakes. She was gifted a token of love, a sand sculpture of ‘Mother’ which was sculpted by the Art instructor, Mr. Prasanthan.M.

Through an interactive session, the Chairman of Bhavans Middle East, Mr. N K Ramachandran Menon shared his thoughts with a heart rendering speech that left all to truly reflect on the pivotal role of a mother. He advised the students to take their mother’s blessing every morning and value her presence. The onstage events drew to a close with the vote of thanks proposed by the Headmistress, Ms. Muneera MammiKutty.

Quoting the words of the great Indian philosopher, Swami Vivekananda, “Mother represents colourless love that knows no barter, love that never dies,” IES, Kuwait ensured that its students and staff understood the depth of these words and wished all mothers across the globe a beautiful Mother’s Day.
