FAIPS. DPS Observes National Mathematics Day

Fahaheel Al-Watanieh Indian Private School (DPS), Kuwait celebrated the National Mathematics Day in a special assembly held virtually to commemorate the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan, the iconic Indian mathematician on Wednesday, 22nd December 2021. The day recognises and celebrates his works. On this day, the genius Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan was born in 1887 to a Tamil Brahmin Iyengar family at Erode, Tamil Nadu.

After the recital of the Holy Quran and Salutation to the country, the Vice- Principal Ms. Vineeta Munshi led the assembly with the morning prayer. The special assembly was organized by the Department of Mathematics and the students performed a skit that threw light on the life of the great mathematician. The Ramanujan number and his relationship with G.H. Hardy, the reputed Cambridge mathematician, were also highlighted in the assembly. The segments on facts, puzzles and riddles presented by the students showcased their zeal and interest in the subject. A video compilation of various projects done by the students on different aspects of mathematics was enlightening.

The Principal, Mr. Ravi Ayanoli while addressing the students and the teaching faculty cited various contributions by legendary mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan, like various number theorems and his amazing mastery of continued fractions. He also added that, it was unfortunate to lose him at the age of 32.

The special assembly concluded with a proposal of vote of thanks by Ms. Deepa Rajesh, the Senior Mistress, followed by the Indian National Anthem.
