Nostalgia 2019

Yesterday I asked my father when we will be going home. This is the third year I am in Kuwait. I miss seeing my cousins, my grandmother and my loved ones. I also thought of the last excursion we had when we went to India. My Parents took me to Delhi, Jaipur and Udaipur. We took my grandmother with us.

Our first stop was Delhi. It took us three hours and ten minutes to reach. Our guide cum driver took us to our hotel. We checked in into our rooms. We freshened up and immediately started our sightseeing. For the first time in my life I saw the India gate. It is a memorial to 90,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who died in between 1914 and 1921 in the First World War. 13,300 servicemen's names, including some soldiers and officers from the United Kingdom, are inscribed on the gate. It was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens.I saw the Rashtrapati Bhavan from a distance. It is the official residence of the President of India at the western end of Raj path in New Delhi, India. Rashtrapati Bhavan is not only the 340-room main building that has the president's official residence, but also refer to the entire 130-hectare (320-acre) Presidential Estate .Some of the other places I saw in Delhi was The Red Fort,Humayuns tomb and the Qutub Minar. After a three day stay in Delhi,we started for Jaipur.

Jaipur is also known as "The Pink City" .Jaipur is a wonderland of culture, heritage and architecture. City Palace gives us a peak into the royal family of Jaipur. The astronomical instruments at the Jantar Mantar observatory bring the mysteries of space down to Earth.

Our first stop was the Hawa Mahal .It was built in the year 1799. It has 953 windows on the outside walls. The beautifully carved windows allow breeze to blow through the palace It was built as an extension to the City Palace Hawa Mahal was built by, Sawai Pratap Singh, grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh who ordered Lal Chand Usta to construct an extension to the Royal City Palace. The construction of Hawa Mahal allows the royal ladies to enjoy from every day street scenes to royal processions on the street without being seen. The large number of windows, each of them is size of a peep hole such that the royal ladies were not to be seen by the public. I have never seen such beautiful buildings. It’s simply mind blowing. The other stops we had was the Amber fort, Birla Mandir and Albert hall Museum. We enjoyed the Rajasthani Cuisine ..Gatti Ki sabzi,Laal Maans,Ker sangria,Kulcha in tiny pots. I loved the place.

Then we moved on to Udaipur.Udaipur is also known as the 'Venice of the East', It is near the green hills of Aravallis. The famous Lake Palace, located in the middle of Lake Pichola is one of the most beautiful sights of Udaipur. It is also home to Jaisamand Lake. The city is also known for its marble. Solar observatory in Lake Fateh Sagar is the only observatory in India Udaipur was founded in 1553 by Maharana Udai Singh II as the new capital of Mewar Kingdom. Udaipur City Palace, Jagmandir, Maharana Pratap Memorial were some of the other places we visited in Udaipur.

After Udaipur we returned home. My Grandmother enjoyed the most. She always wanted to visit Delhi because, that’s where she lived before her marriage. I loved spending time with her. Not even in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I won’t be going back to India for the next two years. I miss my cousins, my grandmother and all my loved ones. I hope to go back soon.
