Could this biodegradable blob be the next-generation water bottle? This orb is an edible water bottle. ‘Ohio’ is a seaweed-based capsule and is completely edible that takes plastic out of the equation. It is created by ‘Skipping Rocks Lab’ in U.K and hopes it wastes-free packaging will help alleviate the problem.
The ‘Ohio’ capsule is cheaper to manufacture than plastic. Around 1 billion plastic bottles pollute the oceans each year. The water blobs are currently being sold at pop up shops in London. The company hopes to crowdfund $500,000 to begin global production.
‘Ohio is created from brown algae so it is 100% biodegradable and totally edible just peel the skin, and then pop it in your mouth. It is a type of squishy and mashable too. The casing can be flavored or colored so you can either eat it, or throw it away. ‘Ohio’ is being tested at athletic events and the company hopes to bring it to the other countries soon. So we can finally say goodbye to plastic because plastics are not good for our health.
But I hope so it will take time for all of us to get used to these water blobs.
