Writers’ Forum Kuwait spreads Hope during Pandemic

Poetry and creative writing is all about being positive and spreading hope whilst accepting the realities of life. This was well proven during the emotional conclave of members of the Writers’ Forum Kuwait where the poets met each other on the virtual platform of zoom on 25th June 2021.

The meeting started on a usual high note with Ms. Nazneen Ali, the General Secretary of the Forum welcoming everybody and rejoicing the joining of two new members Ms. Kamla Prakash and Nisar Ahmed. Ms. Nazneen Ali also expressed her enthusiasm while welcoming Ms. Parminder Kaur who had relocated to Canada few years back and was able to rejoin from there through the virtual platform of Zoom. Ms. Nazneen Ali further expressed her satisfaction that joining of new members is a sign that the forum is on the path of growth and progress despite the current pandemic situation.

As a usual norm, renowned Urdu poet Sabir Omer was requested to preside over the meeting while Gujarati and Hindi poetess Mrs. Kalpana Shah was invited to be the chief guest.

The formal session of the meeting started with a keynote by the President of the Forum Mrs. Maimuna Chougle who welcomed the new members and wished them good luck for their activities on the forum’s platform and otherwise. She further mentioned that the Forum will continue to abide by the regulatory norms and if permitted legally, the Forum will start physical meetings soon. Like her usual attempts to bring something new and commendable to the knowledge of the members, Mrs Maimuna Chougle read couple of poetries of late poet Geetanjali who passed away at a young age of 16 in Mumbai. Geetanjali was a cancer patient and wrote many poems during her struggle against the deadly disease. Subsequent to her death her mother found these poems which were later translated in Urdu by the editor of Insha Magazine. The poems of Geetanjali were very emotional and left everyone deeply moved.

After a heart touching session by Mrs. Maimuna Chougle, Nazneen Ali presented a beautiful Urdu Ghazal showcasing her art of writing on different subjects. This was followed by a Ghazal in Hindi by prominent poet Umesh Sharma who well described the current pandemic situation. Sunil Sonsi followed the suit with an emotional poem “lockdown” that everyone could relate to. In continuation to the discourse about the current situation Ms. Parminder Kaur recited her poem in English that highlighted the positive side of the current situation. She also read a very emotional poem in Hindi that was equally enjoyed by all. Ammeruddin Ameer went a step further in light of the current situation and voiced the importance of good health. Dr. (Ms.) Radhika Guleri Bhardwaj who generally writes in Hindi surprised everyone with her mesmerizing Urdu Poetry while Ms. Anupama Chaturvedi described life and its veracities through her well drafted verses. Ms. Kamla Prakash’s melodious debut performance was well received by the members.

After the members’ presentations, the Chief Guest of the evening Ms. Kalpana Shah bid adieu to her late father through a very adoring poem in Gujrati. Further she expressed her gratitude to everyone for honoring her to be the Chief Guest of the evening and appreciated each poet in person.

The President of the evening Sabir Omer recited a heart touching poetry that described the emotional state of a person after an irreparable loss of a dear one; that left everyone spell bound. To conclude, he congratulated all the members on their continued excellence and prompted them adhere to the rules of poetry to make their creations more impressive and outstanding.

Mohan Singh, another dedicated member was also present in the meeting. Before winding up the day’s proceedings Ms. Nazneen Ali thanked everyone for their presence and wished them all good health and well-being.
