Social Networking- Boon or Bane

If you are aware of what somebody is doing or feeling. I can’t assure that you are her/his friend. It simply means that you are connected with her/him on some Social Networking Site. In this era of 3G, 4G and now 5G our life has become faster than the internet, where we simply have no time to spend on what others feel. That’s where social networking being online. Apart from how we use it, socialism or such sites don’t just keep us connected but can also help us earn our living. Facebook has made Mark Zuckerberg the world’s youngest billionaire at 27 this connection has become so extreme that if you don’t have an account on such sites, you simply don’t exist for the world. In India, political parties have made their points clear to youngsters through such networking sites. Some sites like Twitter, owned by Google have brought celebrities and their fans closer. Once, I even read that some gang of miscreants got caught just because one of them posted their plans on such sites. There are many more sites for example: Instagram invented by Kevin Systrom, snapshot invented by Joseph Nicephore Niepce etc.

Not just entertainment, social networking is serious business, too. People communicate easily over the internet instead of making phone calls across countries.

Recent updates have shown that college and high school students and even primary and junior kids too have their online schooling through such Medias and exchange of notes and many more.

This is one brighter side of the picture, but on the darker side of the picture, it looks entirely different.

While logging on to such sites, people submit their information. It is extremely necessary for the sites to assure the users----complete confidentiality and privacy.

Such sites are hunting grounds for online hackers, and virus producers. There have been so many extortion and blackmailing cases connected to social networking sites.

While, on the other hand, due to the harsh comments or jokes passed by fellow students, one can enter a state of depression. Various cases of suicides have occurred.

Today, it’s not an uncommon sight to see a group of friends or a few members of a family sitting and dinning together with their eyes fixed on smart phones instead of talking to each other. Phones are getting thinner and smarter. The human race is getting fatter, lazier and more stupid.

I too balance my social activities by limiting my usage by just checking my social media sites more than once or twice a day. Because your time on social media can add up quickly, all the videos I played them and listen to it, while doing my other activities like when I do my exercise or cycling I try to manage my time and listen to those videos with the help of my Bluetooth and mobile holder.

Apart from the advantages and disadvantages of social networking, we need to realize where this is taking us. I am nobody to declare it a boon or bane, just that we are getting severely addicted to it. The time is not far away when we will feel restless without being connected. It is necessary to be on par with an ever-progressing society, but everything has a limit. This should stop somewhere, or our own deeds will take us to devastation.
