“No Blue, No Life”, exclaims Kindergartners of Smart Indian School

“No Water, No Life, No Blue, No Green” is a very apt quote as of today, as Oceans are the lungs of our planet, providing most of the oxygen we breathe.

The ocean produces over half of the world's oxygen and absorbs 50 times more carbon dioxide than our atmosphere. They are also a major source of food and medicine and a critical part of the biosphere. Hence Oceans are known as a lifeline for Earth’s suitable living. A rare occasion for the kindergarten kids of Bhavans Smart Indian School was when they celebrated the theme Ocean day together on 10 December 2020, to learn the beauty, the wealth, and the promise of the ocean.

It was a time that the kindergartners also learnt the importance of this “elixir of life” and hence celebrated this day. Virtually the kids learnt that destroying the Oceans in the past has destroyed the homes of millions of aquatic animals and has made life almost to a standstill in the Oceans. Understanding the risks, importance, and the support that ocean gives us was the objective of the commemoration of the day. The kids also promised their teachers that they would not litter their places around. They learnt a lesson that they must conserve the homes of the wildlife in the blues. At the end of the day, the children were busy rolling their pins to make beautiful water animals with clay on a blue backdrop to depict the ocean life which was the highlight of the day.
