Diwali is the festival of light

Diwali is the festival of light. It is celebrated every year throughout the nation. It is the day when Lord Rama returned back from his exile. It signifies the victory over devil. Everyone decorate their houses with lamps and colorful lights. Children light fire cracks. But they are not good to our health because it is very harmful to our body. It is a threat to all living organisms. Some people call this festival as ' deepawali'. Deep means light and vali means row. It is thus called the row of light. It is also a time when family members meet together. It usually lasts for five days and is observed in Hindu lunisolar month. People where the spectacular dresses and embellishes the exterior of the house with rangoli and diyas. People offer pooja to Goddess Lakshmi and share gifts and sweets. Diwali is observed twenty days after Dussehra . The first day of Diwali is celebrated by cleaning homes and decorating them. The second day of Diwali is called Naraka Chaturdashi. On this day, people rise up early before the sunrise and put on ubtan all over the body and take a holy bath. It is assumed that taking a holy bath will wipe away all our sin . The main day of Diwali is observed on the third day. It is the day of Lakshmi puja. The last day of the Diwali is Bhai dooj. It is dedicated to the attachment between sister and brother. Thus festival is definitely one of the splendid festival in the world.
