Diwali Celebrations by NRI

Diwali the festival of lights is celebrated with great grandeur by the NRI’s.It symbolizes the spiritual “Victory of light over dark". It is also celebrated for God Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi. It takes place annually and lasts for five days, marking the start of the Hindu New Year. The word Diwali (or Deepavali as it's sometimes called) means “row of lights” in an Ancient language of India, called Sanskrit.

Diwali is celebrated by lighting diyas, home decoration, shopping, puja (prayers), gifts, feasts, sweets and NRI’s put large rangolis outside their house. Fathers buy diyas and crackers, help in the home decorations and take care of their children while bursting crackers very cheerfully. Children contentedly wear new dresses and merrily burst the crackers and see the sky which is colorful with bright eyes. They exchange sweets and gifts with joy. People gift gold coins with God Ganesha or Goddess Lakshmi carved on it, to their family members. Mothers along with their friends will be making sweets like laddoos, Rasagullas, Kaju-Katlis, Jilebis, milk sweets, Gulab Jamuns etc and when they all finish they exchange their sweets with great entertainment. People luxuriate on the occasion of diwali and have great attachment with diwali.
