
2.43 million expatriates are living in Kuwait, including domestic workers, as per the recent data issued by the Central Administration of Statistics. This includes nationals from 174 countries around the world, Al-Anbaa Arabic media reported.
As per last year data, by the end of December 2022, the total number of expatriates was 2.34 million workers.
The total employment in the local labor market, including citizens and domestic workers, at the end of June 2023 is about 2.877 million, compared to 2.79 million workers at the end of December 2022.
Indian are the largest in number with 30.2% of the workforce in the local market, and the total number of its workers reached about 869,820 at the end of June 2023.
Egypt came in second with 483,450 workers in the labor market and Kuwaiti nationals are on third in the local labor market, with about 447,060 workers.
The Philippines came in fourth place with 269,480 workers, followed by Bangladesh with 248,920 workers.
The data showed that the total total employment in Kuwait other than domestic workers increased by 52,000 during the first 6 months of 2023, as their numbers reached about 2.088 million at the end of June 2023.
The number of domestic workers in Kuwait also witnessed an increase by about 34,850 during the first 6 months of 2023, as their total numbers at the end of June 2023 reached about 788,150, compared to 753,290 at the end of December 2022.
