Nightly prayers called Tarawih are also held in mosques after the night prayer (Isha). Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam. So Muslims fast as an act of worship, a chance to get closer to God, and a way to become more compassionate to those in need.

Eid al fitr is one of two major holidays celebrated by Muslims around the world. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting. It is also called “lesser Eid”. After a month of prayer, devotion and selfcontrol, Muslims celebrate the accomplishment of their sacred duties during Ramadan with the beginning of Eid al-Fitr.
