“When Ramadan arrives, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of hellfire are closed and the devils are chained.” (Hadith)

Assalamu Alaikum . I am really excited as Ramadan is nearing
Ramadan , is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Muslims worldwide observe fasting (Sawm). It is one of the five pillars of Islam. It lasts 29 to 30 days, from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next.

Fasting is fard (obligatory) for all adult muslims except for ill ,travelling , pregnant , breast feeding , diabetic etc ., Fasting is from dawn to sunset . The predawn meal is called Suhur while the feast that breaks the fasting is called Iftar . Muslims refrain from not only food and drinks , but also from sinful behaviours. They read Quran and perform salah ( prayer) . Muslims are expected to put more efforts in following the teachings of Islam.
Muslims believe that good deeds are rewarded more handsomely during Ramadan than any other month in that year .So many muslims donate a large portion or even all of their yearly zakat as donation .

The most important is “Laylat - al – qadr “ which is considerd as the holiest night of the year . It is generally believed to have occurred on an odd number night during the last 10 days of Ramadan .

The Eid – al- Fitr , marks the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal, the next lunar month.
