Ramadan -The Holy month of the Muslims.

Ramadan is a month long festival celebrated by Muslims all over the world. It is celebrated as the month during which Prophet Muhammad received the revelations of the Quran.
This is a very important festival in which Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset and have a delicious and tasty meal after sunset. During the month of Ramadan, people used to share food items with relatives, friends and needy persons.

Usually, the beginning of holy month of Ramadan and the time it ends will be determined by the sighting of the moon and the same will be declared by the moon sighting committee in Saudi Arabia.

Muslims prepare new recipes for Iftar and Sahoor .. Worshiping, reading the Quran and charity are most encouraged during this holy month.

How was Ramadan originated and from where the name Ramadan was represented?

The name Ramadan stems from the Arabic root ’ar-ramad, ‘which means scorching heat. Muslims believe that in A.D. 610, angel Gabriel appeared to Prophet Muhammad and revealed to him the Quran, the Islamic Holy book.

How much times does Muslims pray during the holy month of Ramadan?

Praying 5 times a day is compulsory for all adults. Their prayers are known as Fajr, Dhuhr ,Asr ,Maghrib & Isha.These prayers are to be performed facing towards Mecca.That is they pray during the morning, after midday, afternoon, during sunset and at night.

What are the different types of food eaten during the holy month of Ramadan?

Harira soup, Dishes with dates, Sehri, Pakora fritter, samosa etc.

What are the five pillars that are believed to be the foundation of the Islam?

The five pillars of Islam are some basic acts in Islam, considered mandatory by Muslims 1.Shahada (the declaration of faith) 2.Salat (prayer) 3.Zakat (alms) 4.Sawm(fasting ) 5.Hajj(pilgrimage )

Why this fasting is important?

Fasting is the fourth pillar of Islam .It is an act of deep personal worship in which Muslims seek a richer perception of God it is also challenge for self-control and ones sensitivity is heightened to the sufferings of the poor and people who are suffering to have food.
