The Essence of Ramadan

Monday, April 5, 2021

Ramadan, Ramadhan or Ramzan, is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, which is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community.

Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement and heightened devotion and worship. Muslims fast in Ramadan from dawn till dusk, and break the fast with ‘Iftar’, at the sunset, after the call of Maghrib prayer. This includes abstaining from drinking, eating, immoral acts and anger. This helps in improving and controlling oneself and creating a better version of themselves. There are additional ritual prayers, known as ‘Tarawih’, which is performed at night, after Isha prayer, during this holy month of Ramadan.

This is the holy month, when The Believer and The Almighty Allah, gets closer with all the good deeds and devotion. In this holy month, if one sincerely repent to Allah, with sincerity and pure dedication, the Almighty forgives them for both the smallest and biggest of sins.Fasting is also very good for the health as it reduces risks of many diseases like cancer and high blood pressure. It also lowers the cholesterol level in the body and boosts the immune system. Dates, which are an essential part of Iftar have many health benefits. They are high in several nutrients, fiber and antioxidants, which result in improved digestion and lower the risks of heart disease.

Every year, Ramadan is celebrated with joy and happiness, family and friends unite, peace and harmony be upheld. May this Ramadan be joyful, peaceful and bring infinite blessings. May Allah fill our lives with divine light of luck and joy.

Ramadan Mubarak to one and all!!
