IIK Independence Day

One People, One India

From the rule of the Mughal,
To the days of endless struggle,
Just one dream and one goal,
Remained for us of one soul.

The flowery path layed for us,
A thorny desert it was once,
On which our forefathers walked upon,
Whose souls we mustn’t forget to mourn.

Vande mataram, our national song,
And the Tiranga of our very own,
Was all gifted to us on that night,
Along with the Freedom at Midnight.

On 15th August, the Tiranga that unfurled,
Once again reassured that the India of today’s world,
Shall never again surrender to none,
And always remain together as one.
