Development is the ultimate key to progression, especially in this fast-paced world, where people spare no effort to earn a good name and be recognized by most. And this is clearly seen in our nation, India, from the beginning, up till now and going ahead. Although the period of post-independence had a rough start, owing to the various issues arising from all over the county, India still managed to fight through all the obstacles in her way and grew in an undoubtedly remarkable manner, soon being at par with all other countries in almost all aspects. As we commemorate the 73rd anniversary of our freedom from the hands of the British, let’s have a look at India’s progression over the years.

A major development in the nation’s service sector is visible in the telecom and information technology sectors. As this field is rapidly expanding, it has opened up many new career options, as well as fueled India’s economy. In this technologically advanced world, India has a huge advantage of large pools of workers, having both software and language skills, enabling it to move towards higher value-added services.

India has also seen advancements in the field of agriculture. Farming, earlier considered as a tiring, back-breaking profession, is now being pursued by a lot of young people, thanks to the invention of high-yielding variety seeds, modernized machines and other improvements. Since we entirely depend on farming for everything, from the food we eat to the clothes we wear, it surely is a profitable business, and hence, is chosen by many. Owing to this huge participation, India is the leading producer of various products worldwide like milk, pulses, jute, wheat etc.

In terms of education, India has managed to reach its education system at par with the global standard. By setting up schools in rural areas, offering free schooling for the underprivileged and various other means, India has seen a dramatic increase in its literacy rate of 12.2% to a whopping 74.04% post- independence. Our country has also yielded various successful, inspirational personalities in not just the educational field, but also many others, bringing us nothing but great honor.

Independent India has taken confident strides in its road to scientific development. Beginning from the launch of our first satellite Aryabhatta in 1975, India has proven to be successful in majority of its space programs. India is the fourth country in the world to plant its flag on the moon in 2008 and its first mission to Mars, launched in 2013, successfully reached the planet’s orbit in 2014. In addition to this, ISRO launched 104 satellites (highest in the world) from a single rocket. Through these programs, India has proven without doubt that it is indeed one of the top ten countries to have successful space activities.

In the recent times, during this pandemic, where the world is in panic for a cure to this virus, many countries have come up with vaccines, and thanks to our highly advanced medical field, India is one of them. Although it has a stage more to pass so as to be officially declared as a cure, we can surely hope and pray for its success.

There! We have analyzed the journey of India through its seven decades of freedom, and indeed, it was quite a trip. For a country that was torn to shambles as a result of colonization, India has definitely transformed and come to be one of the top advanced places in the world. As Indians, we must be proud to hail from such a glorious country, with many achievements to be talked of, and we must also uphold our good values and virtues.

I’m indeed proud to be an Indian.

JAI HIND!
