Independence Day

Day by day humans are moving towards materialistic things like more income. Still we humans have the desire innately in us for non-materialistic things like freedom. Independence Day is the day when every Indian was able to smile freely after a long fight against the opposition without feeling hellacious even for a second. That is the reason why I am able to write this article as well as why you are able to read this article ‘freely’. Anytime you ask me ‘how do you feel to be an Indian’? With full pride from the bottom of my heart I will answer that ‘I am blessed to be an Indian’ because my ancestors have got me independence by using a very silent weapon against a very powerful opposition which is 'Ahimsa’. Even right now if I think how our ancestors fought for freedom without any overpowered weapons, I am able to feel Goosebumps all over my body. Most probably Independence Day is the only day where every Indian gets reminded of our freedom fighter and all the incidents that took place in the past which led our country towards the path of independence. This is the day where every student studying in Indian schools will have a blissful smile, because it is the day where Indians get their one of the 3 national holidays.

According to the Indian times:- The television channels have been reducing the amount of patriotic films, song, etc which they used to telecast in a greater quantity In the olden days on the independence day, but they are having complaints that their TRP ratings are facing huge downfall when they are telecasting the patriotic films, songs etc. This resembles one thing, even though we talk rich about our country, deep in our heart we don’t have that patriotic feeling, that is the reason a lot of us prefer entertainment rather than patriotism even on independence day.

When I was a kid watching the celebration like parade, taking place on Independence Day, I used to admire thinking why that day was totally unique, grand and different from any other festival in India. As I grew up, I realized that the reason is festivals like eid, diwali, christmas, etc. are celebrated by a group of people adapted to a particular culture and tradition but in the case of national festivals it is celebrated by a whole country because during the past some of the other ways everyone has become a part of the festival like independence day to day.

A lot of people have this one thought and that is India is not a truly independent country, those people who tell this have understood the true meaning of independence for a country. Independence for a country does not only mean freedom but it also means that each individual is able to live a happy life freely within that country. The factor considered here is ‘poverty’. Also factors like equality where it is said that every individual from the poorest person of the country to the president is equal or there are even more factors like representation of women in all aspects. Only when a country solves all these problems and is free of these complaints then it is considered to be an independent country. Since the day we got independence our country leaders have been trying to cure these problems. For example the recent investment of '10 billion US $' by Google in India is a step towards making the digital world of tech. reaching each and every place in India like rural areas.

At the end of the day, we all are and should be proud to be an Indian. Wishing all my Indian brothers and sisters out there a very Happy Independence Day.
