‘‘Let new India arise out of peasant’s cottage grasping the plough, out of huts, cobbler and sweeper. ’Every year on 15TH August Indians celebrate Independence Day. On this day we got freedom from British rule and is the most remarkable day in Indian history. We also recall the lives and sacrifices lost in this struggle. The British ruled over us nearly 200 years and treated us like slaves till we managed to oppose them. We strived hard day and night for our Independence under the enlighten of our leaders Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subash Chandra Bose, Jawhar Lal Nehru, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Bipin Chandra Pal, Dadabhai Naoroji, Chandra Shekar Azad, Begum Hazrat Mahal and many more. Finally, on 15th August 1947 the dreams of many Indians came true as we were successful to chase away Britishers from our country. After Independence India has achieved a lot in every field. The government also set up the five year plan to develop nation’s infrastructure. India started its own space research station known as ISRO (Indian Scientific Research Organization) which launched many victorious missions. In the year 2001 the Government introduced the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan to ensure education for the children from 6 to 14 years Currently, India is counted as the largest democracy all over the world. Every year at Red Fort the Prime Minister of India hosts the National Flag which is followed by an Army Parade. It is also a national holiday where people show their enjoyment by singing patriotic songs, hosting the flags and flying kites. Also people pay home age to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives. Schools and colleges conduct various competitions such as quiz, fancy dress competition and debates. This day is very special for every Indian. I feel very proud to be an Indian and wish all the Indians over the world a "very Happy Independence day."

Jai Hind.
