On one of India’s Independence Day, many children bought Indian National flags – tiny ones, medium and large flags, stickers, did face painting of flag etc., for the Prime Ministers speech, parade and for all the other related functions.
“Jai Hind, Jai Hind” cried everyone repeatedly. “Jai Hind” said the Prime Minister and ended his patriotic speech. Soldiers came marching with pride in the parade. “Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap” clapped and cheered the audience in joy.
In the evening many national functions were held. Everyone enjoyed it so much. “The day was so much fun”, said one person. “Yes, it was” said another. “Yea” said another kid.
But the next day, our Prime Minister could not believe his eyes. The Indian National Flag was scattered on the ground, near dustbins, bits n pieces in drainage and even been stamped upon. Such a pathetic sight of our flag. The sight saddened him so........ much. Someone was looking at him from a distance. But the Prime Minister did not notice. It was none another than Captain India.
The Public were educated about the important ‘Do’s n Dont’s’ when handling our Flag, the proper way of its disposal and the law. Our Prime Minister was very happy and proud about the activities of Captain India and his team.
For your Information:
The Indian National Flag
As per “ the Prevention of insults to National Honour Act,1971”,whoever shows disrespect to the Indian National Flag, shall be punished with imprisonment up to three years, or with fine or both.
So that person thought of something, something very....... thoughtful. “I will reach out to children and create awareness on how to respect the Flag”. So he got a group of 3 children. Their names were Ryan, Realm and Arjun. Within 2 hours the children from 3 became 6 and then 8 and more. “This is John, This is Elijah” Ryan introduced his friends in excitement. “This is Jaques, this is Maryam” said Realm. “This is Siddu and Gavish” said Arjun.
“Great, we need to collect more kids; By the way my name is Captain India”. More children joined in. “OK, lets do it”, said Arjun. The 15 children started picking up flags from the road, dustbins etc. Captain India was collecting them and assessed for the damage. The children even made posters on, “Respect our Flag campaign”. Many people young and old were observing what the children were doing and joined them.
Flags made of paper should be used by public in terms of the provisions of the “Flag code of India, 2002” on important national, cultural and sports events and ensure their appropriate disposal.
Disposal of damaged Flag:
Burning:
1.Build a fire
2.Fold and place the flag in Fire
3.Take a moment to respect the flag
Burying:
?Fold and place the flag in a biodegradable box before burying.
Patriotism is not a ritual to just practise on Independence or Republic day or when India wins a match. ALWAYS RESPECT THE NATIONAL FLAG. Indias culture resides in the heart and soul of its people.
JAI HIND.
