It has been long, but we won’t forget,
73 years ago we became independent.
Different traditions, cultures and religions,
India is country of 1.3 billion citizens.
All kinds of development both public and private,
Since independence there hasn’t been any riots.
United as a whole is the country we live in,
With mountains and plateaus, lakes to dive in.
In the world as a whole,
India is a major component.
Be it any field like sports or science,
India is a worthy opponent.
Disasters come in our way,
Breaks the country in shackles,
But we don’t give up nor do we give in.
We rise like a tiger vulnerable to non,
That’s why we are still number one.
We faced the Britishers with brutal repression,
Who once gave us cruel punishments.
For once and for all we attained independence,
And relied on the policy of self- dependence.
Take a moment of pride, prestige and dignity,
Mix all these together and you’d form unity.
Let’s take a pledge to make this day wonderful,
For our motherland, oh! so beautiful.
