Did you know? India is the only country to get its Independence through Ahimsa (non-violence).
We celebrate our independence on 15th August every year. On this day in 1947, India got its freedom from the British Rule. The important freedom fighters were Mohanlal Karamchand Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Rani Lakshmi Rai, Subhash Chandra Bose, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Abdul Gaffar Khan, and many more.
Numerous Indians under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi fought against the British Govt. Though India is divided by religions, castes and languages, all freedom fighters stood together like one family to fight against the British.
Indians celebrated this day with tricolours everywhere. Our flag flew high showing its colours of orange, white and green with the blue chakra in the centre. People distributed sweets, played music, danced and showed their happiness.
We should not only celebrate our Independence Day with joy and happiness, but we should also think about out Martyrs who shed their blood and gave their lives for the freedom of our country. And we should try to make our country better in every way. We have to dream big as our beloved DR. APJ Abdul Kalam said and work hard to achieve it.
