Celebrating India’s 73rd Independence Day brings us a colossal amount of happiness to have 73 years of freedom from our past oppressors. Many of us look forward to this historic celebration - this ceremony - giving us pride in the depths of our heart followed by illumination and a beautiful display of fireworks, On the eve of this special day the Prime Minister delivers his ‘Address to the nation’. During the celebration, 21 gun shots are fired as a mark of honor on the solemn occasion.

When our country’s flag is being hoisted we stand as a mark of respect, in the same way we respect our freedom fighters who bought India to where it proudly stands today. They did, not by violence but through amalgamation.

The flag is not just a piece of cloth, it means much more than its simplistic looks - it portrays the viewpoint of an entire nation. The colours are not arranged in a stochastic order but each colour has a meaning that runs deeper than blood. In the national flag of our homeland India, the rich saffron colour represents strength and power of all the leaders of the past and fighters who fought for our motherland and continue to do so to this day. White stands for peace and truth the very values instilled by the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. At the heart of the flag the navy blue dharma chakra signifies the wheel of law. It also means in simplicity and humility we may have a strong sense of unity and togetherness and finally yet importantly we have the splendid colour green which represents the growth and fertility of our native soil, through which we all continue to lift each other up and help the youth of our country to grow and flourish like a blossoming flower; to be better and truthful Indians.

We have often come across the motto of our birthplace - SATYAM EVA JAYATE - which translates to ‘truth alone triumphs’, but we often take this motto for granted. We all have a choice to speak the truth or not; but by speaking the truth we are proving ourselves to be true Indians as truth and only truth will triumph.

On 26th January 1950, our country broke free from the chains of slavery and imprisonment to the fragrance of freedom and a new India with a whole new constitution. Yet again, we overlook the struggles, protests and bloodshed that had taken place behind the scenes to free our country.

As the young generation it is our duty to our homeland to continue to uplift everyone on the basis of humility, truth and most importantly, patriotism. Across the globe we may be, yet we shall continue to be true patriots of our motherland and never falter but continue to pass on all our morals and patriotism to everyone around as an example of how the leaders of our beloved past taught us.

In conclusion, wherever we are around the world we create a piece of India to commemorate our nations Independence Day. As patriotic Indians, we take India from our hearts to all around the globe changing people’s hearts.

SALUTE TO THE INDIAN FLAG AND OUR MOTHERLAND !!!
