You can chain me, you can ignore me, you can even destroy this body, but you will never imprison my mind.
- Mahatma Gandhi

These words of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of our Nation reminds us about the pain and sufferings faced by the freedom fighters of our nation. Independence Day is just a festive occasion for a common man where they would enjoy a national holiday but this day has a greater importance in the hearts of all those who had sacrificed themselves to make this day a reality. This was a great day when the freedom fighters liberated themselves as well as many other Indians like them from poverty, suffering and other discriminations.

Seventy three years ago, this was a very important day when long years of oppression and brutality had finally come to an end. This day symbolizes the victory of peace, justice and humanity on Indian soil. It was a day when the long-awaited dream of the freedom fighters had come true. The freedom fighters of our country are truly precious gems who had worked selflessly and tirelessly to put an end to the colonial rule.

As we flip through the pages of history, we realize the great deeds of the freedom fighters who had freed the citizens of India from the cruel oppressors. The dedication of these great leaders has helped us to achieve the ultimate aim of freedom. The flame of these leaders inspires the present and the future generations to fulfill their obligations.

India’s Independence Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country. This is a matter of honor and pride for all the Indians. Every Indian must always remember that the liberty that they enjoy today would not have been possible without the great people of the past. Let the present as well as the future generations realize the pain and sufferings faced by the great souls who laid down their lives to keep the Tiranga flying in all its glory.
