"Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity" these motivating words spoken by Nehru on the day of Independence created a burning desire in every Indians heart to make India a better and a developed nation.

India has indeed proved to the world in many fields its major development, its mark in science and technology is worth applauding, The Mars Orbiter Mission made India the only nation in the world to reach Mars in its first attempt. Chandrayaan-1, India's first lunar exploration mission, made it possible for ISRO to go beyond the Geostationary Orbit. Aryabhatta - the first unmanned satellite built by India was a breakthrough achievement in India's space programme.

We are no longer dependent on other countries for the supply of food-grains and a number of agricultural crops. In the same manner, we have made significant investment in basic and heavy industries. We are in a position to produce all varieties of basic consumer goods.

India is the world's third largest producer and third largest consumer of electricity, the Government of India launched a program called "Power for All" in 2016. The program was accomplished by December 2018 in providing the necessary infrastructure to guarantee continual electricity supply to all households, industries, and commercial establishments hence ensuring supply of electricity to every household.

With all these achievements every Indian must have their heads held up high but can we or rather should be do so, for our heads are bowed down to shame with our daughters being unjustly treated and raped, although Nirbhaya's soul is finally at peace with her attacker being rightfully punished, there are still a number of girls who haven't received justice.

India still needs to improve in the education field, though people are much educated in studies the way of their thinking still needs to be improved, as India suffers during the COVID pandemic the approach by some people are very careless and they don't follow the strict rules that need to be implied by the every individual.

The most recent case being that of Sunita Yadav who was 'pulled up' for performing her duty. She had stopped Gujarat Health Minister's son after he was seen moving around with his friends in a car past the night curfew.

Also, the father-son duo in Chennai who were sexually abused in police custody raises the question in every citizens mind how safe are they in the so called protectors of the country, Yes they were wrong in keeping their shop open during the lockdown but was torture and death a right step.

So, as we approach the 74th year of India's Independence it's the duty of every citizen and it's leaders to think how and what can we do to bring India as a developed nation not only in its Industries, science and technology but also in its thoughts and approach so that we can be recognised as a Developed nation in all aspects of life.

Thank you.
