Independence day

Many many years, we worked hard in our land,
Controlled by the british hand.

We were free, on august 15th 1947,
Because of gandhiji, the father of the nation.

Chacha nehru, who loved us little children,
Became the first prime minister of our free nation.

Indians were now, happy to be free,
In their own country.

They could grow and do,
What they wanted to.

Things made in india, we now find,
All across, world-wide.

‘jai hind’ will echo in our hearts forever,
And we will take the ‘tiranga’ higher and higher.

That india be filled with peace, let us pray,
On this our independence day.
