Bloodshed, sorrow, terror and treachery,
All for riches, spices and treasury.
Foreigners treat natives as outlaws,
The natives suffer the unjust laws.
Struggles, protests, strikes and thrives,
Just a waste of time and lives.
States, cities and villages looted,
The foreign empire deeply rooted.
But, the nation sustains the thrives,
Slowing the rate of lost lives.
Villagers, merchants and peasants fight,
The foreign empire loses the right.
The struggles and protests were not a waste,
Because, finally a grand freedom they taste.
The nation rejoices its duties and rights,
Earned with struggles, protests and fights.
The day our flag stands hoisted,
And the foreign flag burned and roasted.
The day that covers the bitter past,
From which we derived freedom at last.
The nation mourns the death of martyrs,
Who risked their lives for the freedom of others?
All these celebrations on a day,
Which they call Independence Day.
