Yes, what is the harm?
A powerful force that I first turn to, at the break of the dawn and something that keeps me going the whole day; that governs my mood and well-being and something that is the last thing to swim before my eyes as I close them for the night—ought to be revered, isn’t it? Yes, it is Lord-like for me, my Whatsapp…
It holds all the secrets of my past (of at least 4-5 years—-as back-dated as the phone is) and all the tears, smiles, crazy and special moments, and all the hopes —triumphant and dashed—- of the present. And depending on how I fare on the numerous chats and how much love you fetches for me on it, my future rests.
Ahaaa!!! Lord Whatsapp, how I wish you had descended on Earth earlier. Life and events would have been so very different. Very much likely that lives would not have been lost fighting for freedom from the British… Nestled comfortably in our blankets, we would have formed hundreds of groups and sent such forwards and so many forwards that the British would have just sent an exasperated and left! You amaze me so often with your divine powers to make life hell for those who do not bend or bow before you.
And oh Lord, you have simply enriched lives like none other by making it so very easy to profess love and easier still to break up with the loved one! It was just not possible for any other divine power to make it this easy!
What real love, and best of intentions could not achieve—- you made it possible with your powers, Lord! Yes! Keeping long-lost, forgotten and forsaken classmates and office-mates together! Despite all our true feelings and solemn promises to be forever there for each other, we had failed to stay in touch but YOU did it! You brought to us all those forgotten folks, and now your power makes us stick together too. Bravo!
The other day I read with moist and gleaming eyes that you are ranked among the top-5 knowledge-disbursing Universities in India. I do not agree, though, with the order in which they were listed:
A barber’s shop
A paan-shop
A drunk man
A general compartment of a train
Whatsapp
Not only do you unselfishly give knowledge but you motivate us to write, sing, read and write—like no teacher ever could. When we hold you in our hands and the chat-wall is in front of us—- we pen poems, utter dialogues we never thought we could, bravely pour our passion in words and kisses in the air, pass on wisdom-laden quotes, and our concern for environment, strangers, women, husbands, dogs, and all forms of living beings and innate objects simply shoots in the sky as we sit glued to videos of all kinds which you have brought in our lives! O’ Lord, how can we ever thank you enough!
Unlike me, not many know you in your full glory and power… I can keep such amazing track of who is going where and what is happening in the lives of all those about whom I wish to know. Your ‘last-seen’ feature and ‘status’ help me to keep track just so effortlessly. People do not even realise how they fall prey to you by becoming obsessed about and revealing all about themselves and their whereabouts in —-the status and DP.
O’ Lord Whatsapp, be kind; be merciful… May my Jholi…errrrr, my chat-box be always full. Let me not see lonely walls or tearful and furious emojis when you bring me my daily platter! I shall keep my head bowed and mouth mum for as long as you govern, guide and garnish our lives…
Lord, I have a request though! May I …? Well, there is one thing which is still hidden in your lap and I want to have a glimpse of that… And, that is ‘truth’. We don’t get to see the real picture because you are freely available to us. I pray to your creators down here, that you charge us for every knock at our doors. Pleaseeeeeeee Lord, charge us!
I want to know who truly wants my morning to be good as I open my eyes and take your Darshan! I want to know of all the three dozen hearts that I get daily, who amongst those senders is really connected with my heart. You have been so generous that you flooded our lives with a tsunami of emotions. I just want to know who is real. Charge for every video and every pic so that we know how many are in love with flowers, the different shades of the sea and the sun, the cute pets and the lovely kids out there! When I am unwell, I want to know who has the heart to spend money and then send flowers on the chat-wall.
Perhaps I am living in an illusion, believing that I matter; that is why people feel like sharing every small and silly achievement (in video or on YouTube channels) of themselves and their babies with me; that their fondness for me makes them pour their woes to me in voice messages and that is why they chat for hours with me…
O Lord, please let me know… Do I really matter to them? Am I indeed surrounded by folks who find me and my wise counsels precious? Am I so irresistible that hordes of pics, videos, emojis, recipes, wise thoughts, Ted-talks, bhajans and many more touching stuff lands at my doorstep daily….???
O’ Lord Whatsapp, open your account and thereby, open my eyes too!!!
