The program moderated by Mr. Sudhir V. Menon - Fahaheel Area President of Center for India Studies Kuwait, was held at Sopanam Auditorium, Mangaf on Thursday, July 11, 2019

Various aspects of the Union Budget presented by Union Finance Minister, Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman were discussed in detail.

Mr. KE Subramaniam CA - Assistant Vice President NBK Capital, Adv. Sumod Kottieth - President of Bharatiya Pravasi Parishad Kuwait, Mr. Ajith Kumar - Member Loka Kerala Sabha, Mr. Sajeev Narayanan - Vice Chairman Saradhi Educational and Charitable Trust, Mr. Gopakumar - Convenor Kuwait Engineers Forum and Mr. Raghu Perumbilli - Member of Sevadarshan Kuwait participated in the discussion.

With the active participation of the audience, the program was excellent and informative.

In continuation to the development activities of Narendra Modi Government's first term, the new budget also is far sighted and development oriented felt the participants of the meeting. Many schemes benefiting farmers, fishermen, women empowerment, pollution control etc have been included in this budget. The steep increase in advance tax revenues paid by Corporate entities are encouraging.

The meeting, however, expressed concern regarding 100% FDI in the insurance sector, foreign sovereign bonds, the difficulty of holding the fiscal deficit at 3.3% and control of inflation which is likely to be hit by rising fuel prices.

Mr. Binu Narendran Fahaheel Area Secretary of CIS Kuwait welcomed the gathering and Mr. Anil Paravoor proposed the Vote of Thanks. Mr. Sreejith Nair, General Secretary, Center for India Studies Kuwait, explained in detail the objectives and future plans of CIS Kuwait.

Similar to this event, CIS Kuwait is planning to conduct more events concerning Indian expatriates in the coming months.
